After Amaterasu loses an argument with her brother Susanoo, he wreaks havoc on her realm causing her to feel a myriad of emotions including despair, sadness, and grief. In response she flees into a cave throwing the world into darkness. This scene represents the detrimental effects of holding emotions in, not seeking help when needed and how restrictive it can be when trapped within our own minds.
